A non-systemic fungicide, thiram is used to prevent fungal diseases in seeds and crops, both in the field and for the protection of harvested crops in transport and storage. It is also used as an animal repellent to protect fruit trees from damage by deer, rabbits and rodents. It is used topically, either directly or incorporated in soaps, in the treatment of scabies, wounds and other skin disorders. Thiram has also been used as a vulcanizer in the production of rubber.
